Wooden Stairs<\/h3>

Wooden stairs are an integral part of the interior design.<\/p>

Stair treads are usually made of solid ash or solid oak hardwood. The difference between these two types of wood is that oak absorbs colour better, while ash is more mottled and lighter. The colour is usually matched to the shades of the floor or the doors. The step can be oiled or stained and varnished.<\/p>

The standard thickness of the tread is 40 mm. Depth 260 to 320 mm. The counter-steps are available in various thicknesses from 20 mm to the thickness of the step itself. The counter-steps can be painted in the colour of the wall, in which case the step is ‘recessed’ about 25 mm forward.<\/p>

On request, grooves can be milled in the step for LED lighting.<\/p>

The stair treads are mounted on a concrete or metal structure. We can design and manufacture a metal staircase structure.<\/p>

For customers who want a unique staircase, we can offer a metal staircase structure that comes out of the wall, is “wrapped” with wood and makes the staircase look like it is suspended in the air. (For example in gallery x)<\/p>

When the steps are installed between two walls or are very long, we recommend that they are fitted with a surround. In the first case, this is to avoid gaps between the wall and the tread, in the second case it is to give the tread a better grip and prevent it from falling apart.<\/p>

Maintenance of stair treads:<\/p>

If the stair tread is coated with oil, it should be renewed every 3-5 years.<\/p>

If the staircase is free of foreign objects from the outside, such as sand or other sharp elements, it can be renewed every 5 years, but if the staircase is located close to an external door and dirt gets on it, it may need to be renewed every 2-3 years.<\/p>

The renovation work is not complicated and can be done by yourself. Simply lightly sand the tread with fine-grained sandpaper and oil it with the same or similar colour oil. Wipe off any excess oil after five minutes.<\/p>
