Stair railings<\/h3>

Stair handrails, also known as internal handrails, can be mounted on top of the steps or on the side of the staircase.
These two installation methods depend on the style of the house and the technical possibilities.
The height of the staircase according to the Technical Building Regulation (STR) is 900 mm. We always recommend that the top landing of the staircase, if any, is raised slightly higher to 1050-1100 mm for safety reasons. This does not apply to handrails up to the ceiling. This type of handrail starts at the treads and extends to the ceiling. We always recommend that a timber beam is fixed under the ceiling to prevent the handrail from becoming sticky over time.
Why choose solid handrails over two floors? – Developers of modern townhouses are narrowing the staircase to maximise living space. In order to keep the staircase as large as possible and to make it comfortable to walk on, we do not propose a wooden handrail on the first floor staircase, whereas on the second floor staircase the handrail is already fixed on the side. This keeps the staircase as wide as possible and gives the handrail design a minimalist and aesthetic look. \u2028As in this example:<\/p>

We install handrails using the highest quality fasteners that meet all STR requirements. Anker compound is also used for the installation work, this resin is used to reinforce the fasteners if, for example, the surface on which the handrail is fixed is unstable.
When installing the handrail from the side, we always recommend covering the fixing points with aluminium fittings of the same colour as the handrail.<\/p>

If necessary, we always offer the customer a project of the internal handrail to see how the new structure will look in their home. The drawing shows the fixing points, the materials used, the heights and other relevant information. In order to prepare the drawing, we need to visit the site and take precise measurements. During the visit, we will advise you on possible methods of fixing the handrails and any other questions you may have. We always have some wood and metal samples with us. We can also choose the colour of the metal from the RAL colour palette and the colour of the wood from our oil and stain palettes during the visit.<\/p>

Recommendations:
– Take some photos after insulating the floor, especially in areas where handrails might be attached;
– If the staircase is sufficiently narrow, up to 800 mm long, the handrail manufacturers should be contacted to discuss the method of fixing the handrail. In this case, it would be best to fix from the side, leaving as much clearance as possible;
– The best result is achieved when one company manufactures both the stair treads and the handrails, which makes it easier to coordinate all the details; if this is not possible, then the handrail manufacturers should be consulted in parallel with the treads;
– The method of fixing the handrail to the ceiling must be considered, in the case of stretch ceilings or gibbs, a wooden beam must be fixed to the ceiling.<\/p>
